The Milton has been awarded the Cask Marque award. Cask Marque was set up to reward excellence in the service of Cask Beers. Random inspections are carried out twice a year by independent inspectors who will test all the cask beers on sale for appearance, aroma, taste and temperature, the beers must meet high standards in all 4 areas in order to retain the cask marque.The Milton has achieved a score of 20/20 on every inspection.
Angus Ales - a new micro-brewery in Carnoustie - started brewing quality real ale in October 2009, for sale to discerning pubs and drinkers in the area. This is the first brewery in the county of Angus for 50 years, and possibly the first in Carnoustie since the 1830's. Coming from the Golf Town, their beers' names have golfing connections: Mashie Niblick (a full-flavoured malty ale at 4.2% abv), Gowfers' Gold (a refreshing golden ale at 3.8% abv), Driver Dark (a full-flavoured stout at 4.4% abv) and Birdie 3 (a subtely-flavoured pale brown ale at 4.1% abv)
